St. Helen, also known as Exit 222, is an off-road vehicle (ORV) friendly community. During the summer months, ATVs and UTVs are a common sight on the local roads, often outnumbering regular cars. For everyone's safety, it's important to obey all state and local laws, including the 25 mph speed limit for ORVs on these streets and roads.
Avid off-road enthusiasts from across the state and beyond flock to the St. Helen Motorsport Area to enjoy over 50 miles of designated motorized trails. Key attractions include the sandy play area known as "The Bowl", as well as six short, challenging obstacle courses at "The Rocks". Designed for 4x4 trucks and Jeeps, these obstacle courses feature large boulders and concrete pipes that put drivers' skills to the test.
Beyond its motorsports offerings, St. Helen serves as a hub for an extensive network of scenic trails, two-tracks, and seasonal roads that provide access to popular destinations such as Clear Lake, Houghton Lake, Higgins Lake, Leota, Lewiston, Luzerne, Mio, and Roscommon.

The St. Helen area boasts numerous Airbnb hosts, but the hosts of Latouf Cottage @ 222 are our personal favorite.
