St. Helen Bluegill Festival June 26-29

St. Helen, affectionately known as Exit 222, is an ORV-friendly community where off-road vehicles like ATVs and UTVs are a regular part of everyday traffic, especially during the summer months. It’s not unusual to see more machines than cars on the roads. To keep the area safe and welcoming for all, be sure to follow state and local regulations, including the 25 mph speed limit for ORVs on public streets.

Off-road enthusiasts from across Michigan and beyond head to the nearby St. Helen Motorsport Area, which boasts more than 50 miles of designated motorized trails. Highlights include “The Bowl,” a massive sandy play area, and “The Rocks,” where six technical obstacle courses challenge 4x4 trucks and Jeeps with boulders, concrete pipes, and other natural terrain features.

But St. Helen is more than just a motorsports destination—it’s a gateway to northern Michigan’s scenic backcountry. A web of trails, two-tracks, and seasonal roads connects riders to popular off-road spots like Clear Lake, Houghton Lake, Higgins Lake, Leota, Lewiston, Luzerne, Mio, and Roscommon, making it a perfect base for your next adventure.
